MEMORY VERSE
“And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting”
– Romans 1:28
Take a moment to read Romans chapter 1 to get the context of this verse. This chapter speaks about how sexual sin leads us into deeper darker sins. It also shows us how sexual sin can lead to sexual perversions such as gender confusion, adultery, idolatry of the flesh, and homosexuality.
If we are constantly giving ourselves over to a debased mind, eventually God will give us over to those things we desire and let them consume us. Looking at pornography is one of those debased things that will lead to addiction, perversion, and strange fetishes.
Notice they were given over to sin because “they did not like to retain God in their knowledge.” This is why it is so important for us to meditate on God’s Word daily. This is why we need to memorize scripture and fill our minds with thoughts about God.
If failing to retain God in your knowledge leads to a debased mind, then retaining God in your knowledge leads to a pure mind.
