MEMORY VERSE


“making the word of God of no effect through your tradition which you have handed down. And many such things you do.”
– Mark 7:13

The Word of God is powerful when we believe it and apply it to our life. The power of the Word rests on the authority we give to it through our faith. Yeshua indicated that man-made doctrines and traditions can remove the power and authority the Word of God has in our life.

When we believe unbiblical things that are contrary to the Scriptures, we have made the Word of God no effect in our life. In other words, we are not letting the Word of God affect us and shape us. It has no authority in our life because we have given that authority to unbiblical ideas that oppose the Word.

One example of this might be evolution. If we believe in evolution, then we are removing the authority of the Bible concerning our origins. Another example is believing that we can never stop sinning, in spite of the fact that the Bible says we can and should stop.

We have been handed down many unbiblical doctrines and traditions that prevent us from giving the Word of God absolute authority in our life. We need to recognize when our thinking contradicts the Word of God, and change our mind to conform to what the Scripture says. Giving the Word of God authority is what brings about transformation in our life.

When we conform to the world we become worldly, but when we conform to the Word of God we become godly.
