Faith is not simply believing that God exists. The Bible tells us that demons believe and tremble. Faith is about trusting God, believing His Word, and knowing that He is faithful to keep His Word.
Have you ever participated in a “trust fall”? This is a team-building exercise in which one person falls backward into the arms of another person who they trust will catch them. This is a “leap of faith”, because you trust that person to catch you.
Trust in the Lord and not in your own understanding. Trust what He says is true, not what you perceive to be true.
Our eyes can deceive us, our mind can play tricks on us, and our thoughts can lead us astray. When we trust God in spite of our perceptions, we will not be deceived or led astray because God will direct our path.
