MEMORY VERSE
“Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.'”
– Matthew 4:10
Our worship and devotion belong only to God, and when we give that to anything else, we are stealing from God. This is idolatry.
Satan tries to get us to worship our flesh through lust. He tries to get us to worship money and possessions with coveting and greed. He also tries to cause us to worship celebrities and athletes. If he can direct our worship away from God, he has accomplished his goal.
Our dedication to worship God must be single-minded. “Worship the Lord your God, and him ONLY you shall serve.”
This is the root problem with all sin because when we sin we are not serving God.
Yeshua is showing us the way to battle temptation is to remember that we must only worship and serve God.
