MEMORY VERSE
“Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.”
– Romans 8:7
Our mind is a frequent subject in the Bible. It speaks about having the mind of Christ, transforming our mind, cleansing our mind, filling our mind, renewing our mind, and here we see why it’s important to have a mind that is submitted to God.
Our carnal mind is the problem. Our flesh is opposed to God’s Law and does not want to be subject to it. This makes us an enemy of God.
When we sin, we are standing in opposition to God. Sin is disobedience to God’s Law. Sin is the result of having a carnal mind, and it will lead us to destruction if we don’t change it.
“For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.”
– Romans 8:13
We must submit our mind to the Law of God, and crucify our flesh by the power of the Holy Spirit. When we kill our flesh, we find victory in the Spirit.
