I would love to know what you think of stem cells and blood donations.
On one side Lev 17 says we shouldn’t eat (drink) blood because the life of a creature is in its blood.
The thing is: donating is for “healing” reasons and Yeshua said that it is ok to do work on the Sabbath as long as it is to help those in need.
Also, Lev 11 says Camel is an unclean animal but John the Baptist was wearing Camel’s hair so it seems that saying donating is breaking the Torah would be adding to it.
On the other hand, we see in Ezekiel 4 that when Yahweh told Ezekiel to bake the bread with human excrement, Ezekiel referred to it as unclean and Yah didn’t correct him as He did with Peter in his vision.
But again, Deut 23:12-14 hints at human excrements as being unclean although it never explicitly says so.
This is my dilemma. I’ve been fighting with this for a while but since I couldn’t donate blood due to not speaking German I’ve been postponing this (yes, they still have this thing about German blood even nowadays). However, now, my wife showed me a campaign they are doing to try to find a stem cell donor that matches a little girl that already survived cancer and, as a result of chemo, developed leukemia.
I would appreciate any Biblical guidance on this topic.
Thanks!
