EMIMS

Back to Bible Dictionary

ancient inhabitants of the land of Canaan, beyond Jordan, who
were defeated by Chedorlaomer and his allies, Gen. xiv, 5. Moses tells
us that they were beaten at Shaveh-Kirjathaim, which was in the country
of Sihon, conquered from the Moabites, Josh. xiii, 19–21. The Emims were
a warlike people, of a gigantic stature, great and numerous, tall as the
Anakims, and were accounted giants as well as they, Deut. ii, 10, 11.
