LAVER

Back to Bible Dictionary

Between the altar and the tabernacle, a little to the south,
stood a circular laver, which, together with its base, was made of the
brazen ornaments which the women had presented for the use of the
tabernacle, and was thence called כור נחשת, Exodus xxx, 18; xl, 7. The
priests, when about to perform their duties, washed their hands in this
laver.
