preferred Puteoli to all the harbours in Italy, and here they deposited
their rich freights. They conducted the ships adorned with wreaths and
festive garments, in the form of a fleet, one after another, into the
harbour, where they were received with the greatest demonstrations of
friendship. Such was the case with the sale of Alexandrian commodities
throughout Italy. According to the course then pursued, the vessel in
