Hi Lex and fellow believers… I’ve been reading the Bible a lot these past few days and what Lex explanes about keeping the commandments seems logical… but now I’ve read something that makes me question that… hopefully somebody can explain:

1 Timoteüs 4: 1-5 from what I read it is OK to eat anything as a Christian…

this is what the new King James Bible says: Now the Spirit [a]expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, 2 speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, 3 forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. 4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; 5 for it is [b]sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

in the Dutch Bible it says that it’s OK to eat ANYTHING as long as you say praise to god for it…

now I realise paul is someone who is hard to understand… so please help me understand…

    • and in the next chapter in Titus 1: 14-15 my bible says: (roughtly translated to english) Then they will not interrest themselves for the Jewish fairytales, Or to rules made by men who resist the truth, for instance: rules about what you can and cannot eat. People who live like God want’s them to live can eat anything… for them all foods are clean… but for unbelievers and people who do bad things nothing is clean..
I’m confused… keeping the commandments seems logical but my Bible tells me there are no clean and unclean foods for christians

please give me wisdom and a explination

      • In Hebrews 13 – 9 it says: Don’t listern is someone is telling you weird or wrong things about God… God gives you strength because he is good for you… and NOT because you keep rules on what you can or cannot eat… such rules are pointless!

I really need someone to explain this to me…

    • Shalom Martin,
I’ve watched videos from Lex on this subject and you can find them on Unlearn the Lies. 1 Timothy 4: 1-5 is explained well in his ‘Pig For Thanksgiving? video and a more complete explanation is in his Clean or Unclean video.

Keep in mind that Yah sanctified, that is to say, set apart, food for us to eat. Not all creatures were made for food. I agree with you that Paul is often hard to understand so it is important to understand who Paul was speaking to in his messages.

Brother, this is a topic that really requires study and prayer so try not to get hung up on one scripture.
Allow the Bible to interpret the Bible if that makes sense.

      • I know that after paul the Bible clearly says that there are clean and unclean foods… I know Paul is hard to understand… I’ll look up those video’s again and re-listern to what Lex says about it… I know I’m not so smart and that you need to be very smart to understand Paul… I do believe that we need to keep the commandments but paul made me question that after he literaly said that the rules of clean and unclean are pointless… I guess I just get confused sins it’s really the first time I’m reading the Bible myself and everybody around me has their own version of what the Bible says… when everybody around you is telling you that you are wrong and that you are interperating the Bible wrong and then you see paul say that… it makes you doupth yourself… I just want to worship the correct way… I’ve been a catholic and they are wrong… then I did bible studies with Jehova’s witnesses and they are wrong too… I just want to get it right this time 😉 but thanks for your reply… I’m sorry… I just want to do it correctly and I guess I panicked after reading that
