MEMORY VERSE


“Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You!”
– Psalm 119:11

When we commit the Word of God to memory, when we hide it in our heart, it is readily accessible to us at any moment. So, when temptation comes, we have Scripture stored away for the times we need it most. Having the Word of God written on your heart and mind actually makes it more difficult to sin.
Yeshua spoke about the treasure in our heart, and how both good and evil come from what is stored up in the heart.

“A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.”
– Matthew 12:35

We chase after whatever we treasure in our heart. If we treasure sin, we will chase after sinful things, but if we treasure the Word of God, we will chase after Holiness and seek to do what pleases the LORD.

Ultimately, the battle is won or lost in your heart. This is why Yeshua said, “whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” When lust is in our heart, we have lost the battle against temptation, but when the Word of God is in our heart, we can fight against temptation and win.

Victory over sin is only possible when you hide the Word of God in your heart.
