MEMORY VERSE
“Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
- Matthew 26:41
Prayer is one of the most neglected disciplines in the life of a believer. Why is it so difficult for us to make time to pray? We make time for things that are important to us, and if we don’t make time for prayer, that means prayer is not our priority.
Prayer should be on the top of our priority list if we want to actually have a relationship with God.
Yeshua told His disciples to “Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation.” Indicating that prayer has the power to keep us from entering into temptation. When we pray, our thoughts are focused on God, so we are less likely to give in to temptation.
Yeshua also said, “The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Prayer strengthens our spirit and disciplines our flesh so that we can resist temptation. This type of constant discipline makes it easier for us to conquer our flesh when temptation arises.
If you want to have victory over sin, you must be a man who is committed to prayer. When temptation comes, your first reaction should be to hit your knees in prayer. The flesh and spirit are at war, and one of the most accessible weapons against your flesh is prayer. You can pray anywhere and anytime. In fact, the Bible encourages us to “pray without ceasing.”
