MEMORY VERSE
“Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness?” – Romans 6:16
Because of Adam, we were all born as slaves to sin, but Yeshua set us free from sin so that we will no longer serve it.
We cannot serve two masters, we cannot serve both God and sin. We must choose which master we will serve. Obedience to sin which leads to death, or obedience to God which brings eternal life.
At its root, all sin is rebellion against God, because sin is disobedience. Sin puts us at odds with God because when we sin we’re not serving God, we’re serving His enemy. The Bible says, “He who sins is of the devil” (1 John 3:8)
When we understand that sin makes us an enemy of God, it will cause us to hate sin as much as God does. When we hate sin, we will resist temptation more easily.
Who you serve is determined by your obedience. Don’t say you serve God, prove it by your obedience.
“But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do the things which I say?”
