MEMORY VERSE
“And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God”
– Deuteronomy 28:2
The Bible explains that we receive blessings when we obey and curses when we disobey. Many people don’t understand this concept. They think obedience is a burden, and they don’t realize that obedience brings blessings.
Notice that it doesn’t simply say you will receive a blessing if you obey. It says blessings will overtake you. That is a significant difference. Overtake means to catch up to and pass, to exceed, and to come upon suddenly. So, obedience brings blessings that will come upon you suddenly and exceed you.
“But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.”
– Psalm 1:2-3
Our obedience is a blessing to God, and He rewards us with blessings in return.
