MEMORY VERSE
“But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.”
– Romans 13:14
Clothe yourself in Christ, cover yourself in His character, and make no provision for the flesh. To make provision means to set aside a certain amount for something else. We must be fully devoted to Yeshua and unwilling to set aside even the smallest portion to sin.
If we make no provision for the flesh we will not fulfill the lust of the flesh. We fall to sin when we give sin space in our life. Give your flesh any opportunity at all, and you will fail.
This is why developing discipline is so important. When we learn to control our mind, will, body, and emotions, we stop giving our flesh the opportunity to sin.
Fasting is a wonderful discipline to learn because it teaches us to resist the desires of our flesh. When we master self-control, our flesh looses the power it once had over us.
Discipleship requires discipline to conquer the lusts of the flesh.
Yesterday wasn’t a total success, I didn’t get the memory verse down, but by this morning I had it. I’ll get todays too. Also pray time was not a success yesterday either. Today is a new day with a new opportunity.
These memory verses are getting the best of me. I have my daughter quiz me every evening, and I’m struggling with these last two. Also, I’m finding it more of an internal struggle to fast from internet/news/social media than I am fasting a meal. – I’ll move to day 6 but I’m behind on having the verses memorized.
