MEMORY VERSE
“Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.”
– Matthew 5:8
Every believer should have a desire to see God. Won’t it be wonderful to stand in His presence someday, and witness the Glory of His Majesty? To see God face to face.
Not everyone will see God, but only the pure in heart. This fact alone should motivate us to develop a pure heart.
The word “pure” means without mixture, single-mindedness, no excess or unnecessary extras, un-adulterated, and free of contamination.
We need to ask ourselves, what am I putting into my heart and mind that might be contaminating it and causing me to not have a pure heart? Am I meditating on impure things? Am I filling my mind with impure thoughts? Am I placing impure things before my eyes?
Think about the television and movies you watch, the music you listen to, the websites you visit, the books and magazines you read, and the conversations you have with others. Do these things all correspond with a pure heart, or do they bring in admixture and contamination into your life?
Developing a pure heart requires us to remove anything that contaminates our heart and mind. Think about things in your life that need to be changed or removed and make those changes.
