MEMORY VERSE


“Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.”
– 2 Timothy 2:21

We are useful for God’s service when we are sanctified because we are set-apart completely for His service. When we sin, we serve the flesh, but when we are Holy, we serve God.

You are only useful to God when you are sanctified.

We are told to cleanse ourselves, indicating that sanctification is not passive, but active. It requires our participation and diligence in practicing righteousness.

“The Lord will establish you as a holy people to himself, just as He has sworn to you, IF you keep the commandments of the Lord your God and walk in His ways.”
– Deuteronomy 28:9

Notice that we are not making ourselves holy. The Bible says that God is the one who establishes our holiness, but the key is the word “if”. “If” we keep His commandments.

By obeying God’s commandments, He is making us holy. He is training us in righteousness, but we have to practice it. Our obedience is our training. When we obey, we are walking in the holiness that He established.

God makes us holy if we obey Him. God sanctifies us, but it’s not passive, it requires us to pursue holiness.
