The Bible has a lot to say about the fear of the Lord. God delights in those who fear Him. It is the beginning of both knowledge and wisdom. It causes us to hate sin and leads us to repentance. It prolongs our life and gives us confidence. It is the fountain of life and is better than great wealth. The fear of the Lord causes us to depart from evil and draw near to God.
“Do not say, ‘A conspiracy,’ Concerning all that this people call a conspiracy, Nor be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled. The Lord of hosts, Him you shall hallow; Let Him be your FEAR, And let Him be your DREAD.”
– Isaiah 8:12-13
Learning to fear the Lord is an important lesson for every disciple. We fear God, not men.
